Journey to the Cross is a self-guided, interactive and contemplative event. Individuals and families can drop in anytime between 7am and 8:00pm on Good Friday. You will have the opportunity to reflect on Jesus' sacrifice by experiencing a series of "stations" which depict various events leading up to His crucifixion. As you progress through these stations, you will Read, Reflect, and Act on different Holy Week moments such as The Last Supper (communion), Jesus praying in the garden, Judas's Betrayal, Jesus's condemnation by Pilate, His death on the cross and burial, etc. Feel free to move at your own pace and spend as long or as little time as you like meditating on the events and scriptures, or worshiping along with the Good Friday themed music and graphics. We hope this event will help prepare your hearts for Easter by reflecting on the significance of Good Friday!
We are partnering with MBolden Ministries to provide groceries to families in our community during spring break. This is a task that requires a lot of support, volunteers, and prayers, and we hope that you’ll join us in this endeavor! More information about this event as well as links to help out is below. Thank you so much for your support!
Often times, children in financially insecure families and underserved communities depend on school lunches as their primary means of having lunch at all. During spring break, these families may struggle to provide meals, or in general have limited resources. Our goal through this outreach is to bless these families, and to make sure that these kids have meals throughout the week regardless of their financial situation.
Since beginning this outreach a few years ago, the scope of support has grown each year, and we’ve been able to bless more and more families each year because of your support. In 2025, we plan to provide groceries to at least 100 families in our community. While we deliver groceries, we also put on a block party to build community, fit with live music and a provided lunch. To make all of this happen, we are accepting both financial donations and donations of groceries based on a shopping list we have put together (printer-friendly version available through the “Support this Event” button). If you would like to provide resources or volunteer for this event, follow this link. To give a financial donation to this event, you can do so through your normal tithing method at VCHS (be sure to put “Outreach” in the notes section) or through the MBolden website.
Canvas in the neighborhoods we are serving prior to the event (to let the residents know about this event and offer prayer)
March 24 Organize the supplies and take inventory
March 25th – Pack up the groceries for delivery
March 28th – Deliver the groceries
Now through March 28th – Pray for the event
Plenty of supplies and volunteers
Good weather the day of the event and the week leading up to it
In 2024, the forecast called for rain and cold weather the entire day we were scheduled to deliver. We considered postponing because of this, but decided against it. We had to make a few adjustments due to rainy weather throughout the week, but the day of we were blessed with blue skies and wonderful weather!
Those receiving groceries and the other residents in these communities
Many of the residents in the communities we serve are in a place of financial hardship or limitation for various reasons. Several of them are dealing with health issues or other life circumstances that make working difficult. Some of them work multiple jobs and it simply isn’t enough to make ends meet. Many of the kids in these communities are or will be first generation college students. Please pray for the well being of these families and that they would receive blessings, success, and support, both from this event and otherwise.

Beyond providing meals, we’ve had the privilege of visiting families in their homes, praying for them, and fostering a sense of community. This event is a beautiful opportunity to share the love of God and remind families that they are seen, loved, cared for, and supported.

A Baby Dedication is a special moment in a family’s story. The parents come before their church family making the commitment to raise their child to know and honor the Lord. In return, the congregation commits to supporting and praying for the parents and child. The whole community looking forward to the day when the child makes their own decision to follow Jesus and be baptized.
This event is for anyone who wants to join the ministry team or in general be discipled in ministering to others. Our ministry team is trained to minister to others with compassion, discernment, and guidance from the Spirit. They are the primary group called to the front during our service’s ministry time to pray for others.
This training is led by Matt and Bekah Bartz, a couple very dedicated to serving and teaching in the church. They lead one of the Holly Springs small groups and serve on the worship team. We are very excited to have them as leaders of this team!
